Metacommunicative competence refers to competence in metacommunication such as to give the ability to intervene (in a guiding or constructively controlling way) within difficult conversations and to correct communication problems by utilizing the different ways of practical communication: * ''verbal communication'': by words either orally or in text. * ''paraverbal communication'': e.g. loudness of speaking, prosody, intonation, silences, interruption or interfering the conversation.
